I have a few people who are very interested in setting up a triathlon club in North Co Dublin, possibly calling it Fingal tri or something like that.
I was thinking (but have not suggested it to anyone) why not add a triathlon section to Swords CC as we already have a large no of triathletes. This would lead to increased revenue for Swords for additional members with new and enthusiastic members who might add some more expertise and help to the club. We would be guaranteed more riders for the league and club tour etc. (Of course I still have to check if this is possible to affiliate the club with Triathlon Ireland. I have had a brief chat with a triathlon Ireland person, who thinks it should not be a problem but will get back to me next week) We would also have more support for marshalling races.
1. Biking expertise from long standing members to new triathletes.
2. Other running sessions and swimming sessions that might benefit Swords CC members in the winter
3. Less expense for triathletes who want to join a cycling club and a triathlon club
4. Biking is a weak spot for many triathletes, training with Swords would overcome this for members
